The Cinegy Archive search functionality uses Microsoft SQL Server search engine for the search query processing. To prevent a full-text index from becoming bloated, Microsoft SQL Server has a mechanism that discards commonly occurring words that do not help the search. These words are called noise words or stop words. When such a word is detected in a search query, it becomes ignored so in some cases your search results might return the results that do not contain certain nodes. While this might not be expected by the operator, it is the correct behavior and should be considered when creating your search queries.

Please, refer to the following MSDN articles regarding the noise words processing for different Microsoft SQL Server versions:

The Cinegy Archive master clip itself does not allow the replacement or addition of media tracks. Although it is possible to generate a new copy of the media with the required tracks layout.

The recommended way of new master clip versions generation is using Conform Capturer function. The Conform Capturer ingests existing Sequences into Cinegy Archive and creates a new Roll.

If you need to avoid the transcoding, you can apply the following workaround:
1. Export the first master clip from Roll to MXF Op1A with the direct transcoding profile.
2. Export the second master clip from Roll to MXF Op1A with the direct transcoding profile. In the result, you will have two video files with different audio tracks.
4. Create CineLink - https://open.cinegy.com/products/convert/24.2/cinelink-file-support/cinelink-file-configuration/#specifying-separate-files-as-a-source and specify which tracks and from which file to take.
5.

Cinegy products (Desktop, Archive Manager) do not allow you to delete files accidentally.

The operator in Cinegy Desktop can delete Rolls/Clips/etc., but it will only mark corresponding objects as deleted. Neither object itself nor media files are deleted by any action in Cinegy Desktop.

At the 2nd stage the Archive administrator should use Cinegy Archive Manager to review objects marked as deleted and decide to purge them from database. This will only delete the object metadata and media files will become unreferenced.

Only at the 3rd stage the unreferenced media files list can be collected in Cinegy Archive Manager during consistency check and be deleted by Archive operator command.

So, the process of media files deletion in Cinegy products requires several steps to be executed. It cannot be done accidentally and thus it provides enough level of confidence that the action is planned. At the same time, we do not explicitly protect media storages from unauthorized access as this should be done according to the internal company rules. The read-only access may be granted to most of Cinegy Archive users as normal operations do not require any changes on the file level. The file create access should be granted to Convert/Capture/Import operators. Quality building operations also do not require file modification rights as they create a new instance of the media leaving the original one unmodified. File erasing access should be granted only to Cinegy Archive admins to clean up media not referenced any more.

File types and media groups are managed on the media storage panel launched via the "Media groups, file types" command from the "Media storage" submenu of the database context menu.

During the lifecycle of the production, there are several common tasks to be performed:

Cleanup of the existing network share from the unused or partially used media files;

Extending the Cinegy Archive storage with a new network share;

Controlling the network share free space and preventing it from being fully filled in;

Re-locating media files to another network share.

Cleaning up of the network share can be performed manually - using the Cinegy Desktop Media Cleaner plug-in.

The Cinegy Archive network shares list can be extended at any time during the lifecycle of the system with new storages. To do so, register the new network share path using the "Media groups, file types" section in Cinegy Archive Manager and assign the corresponding media file type for this storage to be filled in with. The new network share will become automatically accessible and used by all Cinegy Archive clients after their restart.

During the normal operation, Cinegy Archive network shares will be filled in with media files. To keep enough space for ingest operations, it is important to monitor the network share free space and deactivate it when the free space is low. This can be done manually in Cinegy Archive Manager or automatically by the Cinegy File Service (recommended way). Please refer to the "Cinegy File Service" section of the Cinegy Archive manual for more details: https://open.cinegy.com/products/archive/15/archive-manager/user-manual/media-storage/file-service/.

In some specific cases, relocation of media files to the new storage may be required (due to hardware failure, maintenance, etc.). The following procedure is recommended:

Prepare a new file server that is at least the same size as the old one.

Deactivate the location you want to replace.

Copy all the Cinegy Archive-relevant footages to the new server.

Replace the network share.

Re-activate the location by selecting the "Is Active" checkbox on the "File Path" tab of the "Media groups, file types" form.

In case the procedure is performed carefully, the new file server will be accessible for all Cinegy Archive clients with all media files.

Running Cinegy Archive in the cloud has two general configurations.

The first one is to merely move to an SQL server running on an instance in Azure or AWS for example. This would mean creating a virtual machine on the cloud platform, installing Windows, installing SQL server, etc. as they would normally, and then migrating the database. The customer would need to either make use of a software license deployed on this SQL cloud server or have remote licensing configured to point to a local server with a dongle. This configuration is possible from version 12 of Cinegy Archive and Desktop.

The second one is if you wish to move to a database service model with a cloud platform such as AWS RDS. Then you would need to move to the latest version of Archive to obtain this support. This model means the cloud platform runs and maintains the SQL server itself, and you merely deploy and manage your database using the standard SQL tools. You do not need to install Windows or SQL server etc in this deployment. You would not be able to have any licenses on the SQL server in this configuration and would need to use a remote license model.

This is based on just moving the SQL component to the cloud.

Unfortunately, there is no built-in prevention of duplicates while importing media into Cinegy Archive. However, it is possible to create a PowerShell script that will search the database for the existing media with the same Traffic ID and delete it if required. Such script can be developed based on, for example, the following one:
https://github.com/Cinegy/Cinegy.Powershell/blob/master/Cas/CAS-Query-Search.ps1
Such script should run independently before importing the actual media and be provided with the Traffic ID to be checked.

Another option is to use the Convert pre-processing script to automate running the script above and getting the required Traffic ID from the task itself. Such script will be able depending on the script config to execute additional logic - either delete existing, create duplicate, or cancel import task.

Convert pre-processing script can use the following:
$trafficId = $provider.Metadata['src.meta.traffic_programm_id'] - to get the current item traffic id and search for it in the database
$provider.SetTaskCancelled("Cancelled from script") - to cancel the task with the corresponding message if media already exists in the database

If you need help with scripting and organizing a customer's workflow you could contact our Cinegy Professional Services at ps@cinegy.com.
